Crowder College Presidential Honors Scholarship

Students who show exceptional academic promise may receive a Presidential Honors Scholarship.  This scholarship pays full tuition, fees and provides books.  Recipients must participate in the Honors Program curriculum and meet the criteria for staying in the program.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet two of the following criteria listed below in addition to having the ACT benchmark scores of English 18; Math 22; Reading 21; Science 24

  • A minimum composite ACT score of 26
  • A standing within the top 10% of their high school class
  • A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5
  • Valedictorian or salutatorian of high school class

Transfer or current Crowder College students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and 26 college credit hours completed.

Application Procedures

Mail the following items directly to the Honors Program:

  1. A completed application form found here:
  2. An official high school (or homeschool) transcript
  3. ACT or SAT scores
  4. Two letters of recommendation addressing your academic ability, work ethic and maturity
  5. Complete the essay prompt found on the application
  6. Once completed applications are evaluated, applicants may be invited for an interview

Deadlines

  • Fall priority deadline is April 1
  • No applications are received after July 15

Criteria for Staying in the Program

  • 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • 15 credit hours per semester
  • Must take the required honors courses and receive an A or B in the course

The scholarship may be renewed for up to three (3) consecutive semesters providing the student maintains the criteria for the program.

Honors Program Curriculum

Fall: Honors Seminar — HONR 151 1 credit hour
Spring: Honors Research — HONR 102 1 credit hour
Fall: Special Topics in Honors — HONR 203 1 credit hour
Spring: Honors Seminar—HONR 252 1 credit hour
