Computer Technology

 

 

 

The Computer Technology program is a two year program designed for students (grades 11-12) who desire a career in the computer field. Computer Technology prepares students for employment as support personnel in the areas of computer and information services. This course prepares individuals by offering a foundational understanding of computers and computing technologies. 

It covers fundamental computer and networking knowledge, focusing on the practical, hands-on skills required for IT operational roles and technical support. Students are introduced to computer basics and how to interact with our simulated lab environment their first year with additional hands on opportunities to grow their hands-on skills and communication skills. During the second year of the program they are introduced to more certification opportunities and real world mock IT environments preparing them for employment, such as maintenancing equipment within our building and fixing client pcs in our repair shop. 

Esports is also integrated with the program as an incentive and introduction into the college Esports program where they can attain scholarships. Participation in SkillsUSA competitions will also be a large factor during the school year also, along with any available field trips, job fairs and other activities that can enhance their learning experience.

  • TestOut PC Pro (Prep for the CompTIA A+)
  • CompTIA A+
  • Additional certifications might be offered according to aptitude

 

Dual Credit
The Dual Credit Program, offered through Crowder College, allows high school students, while still attending the high school program at Crowder College Technical Education Center, the opportunity to enroll in and receive both high school and college credit during normal class hours. Participation in the dual credit program enables high school students to get a “head start” on their college career as well as prepare them for the challenges of college courses. Dual Credit opportunities rotate yearly and are paired as follows:

  • PC Basics I – 32 week course – 3 credits  
  • Introduction to Networks  – 16 week spring course – 3 credits

following year:

  • PC Basics II – 32 week course – 3 credits
  • Introduction to Electronics – 16 week spring course – 3 credits
