RE: Middle school students enjoy career exploration at Crowder

Neosho, MO – Crowder College Technical Education Center is hosting 130 middle school students in its summer program at the Dell Reed Technical Education Center on the Neosho campus.

Students from Diamond, East Newton, Neosho, and Seneca who completed grades 5-7 are selected by their respective school districts to attend the program. During the four-week session, students are able to choose from six different career path: Agriculture, Computers, Construction, Criminal Justice, Health Science, and Teacher Education. Students spend a week in the selected program with hands-on activities.

“The partnership with the school districts provides career explorations as well as English and Math embedded in the classes,” stated Cindy Brown, Director of Public Information. “Each district provides instructors as well as transportation to and from Crowder daily.”

CTEC is the area Career and Technical Education Center that provides career ready training and credentials for students. These classes may be taken during their junior and senior years of high school with opportunities to continue their education at the college or enter the workforce.
