Crowder Instructor Honored for Excellence in Teaching

Neosho, MO – Crowder College History/Geography Instructor, Dr. Denna Clymer, was honored with the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching at the college’s annual holiday banquet.

The award is selected by peers based on student course evaluations. Clymer had many students comment on her high academic expectations, but how she was always there to help. One even commented “her motivation is contagious!” Several students reflected on her energy and the efforts she put into the class to make it fun as well as challenging.

“Every day at Crowder I am surrounded by some of the finest people it has been my privilege to know.  The college-wide commitment to student excellence, and to each other, is profound.  Anything I have achieved here I have to credit to the amazing people I have the honor of calling my colleagues, and to the remarkable scholars I have the opportunity to teach.  I am grateful to all of them,” commented Clymer.

Keith Zoromski, Social Science Division Chair noted her dedication to building a civil, serving, literate, learning community of responsible citizens. “Her commitment to students is admirable and well recognized on campus,” stated Zoromski.

Dr. Clymer holds degrees from Missouri Southern State University, Pittsburg State University, and the University of Arkansas. Her field of study is in agriculture and food supply, and she has sub-fields in Latin American and Chinese history. Clymer has been an instructor at the college since August 2014.

While the honoree was named at the holiday banquet, the official presentation will be made at the Missouri Community College Association Annual Convention in Kansas City in November.
