Crowder and CEI to Ink Apprenticeship Agreement

Neosho, MO – Crowder College and Certified Express, Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding creating an apprenticeship program.

CEI will work with Crowder’s Transport Training program to train professional drivers for their company. CEI is a refrigerated carrier company based in Neosho who currently operates more than 130 power units in its fleet of 53’ refrigerated trailers.

“We have had the great privilege of working with Crowder’s Transport Training program over the past 10 years. This will bring more safety and structure to our driver training which we are excited to offer,” stated Scott Wade, President, CEI.

“We are excited to be able to extend our apprenticeship offerings to CEI. The Transport Training program at Crowder has been success for many years and with the high demand for drivers this seemed to be a natural fit. Apprenticeships are a great way for area employers to skill up their workforce and develop a pipeline of qualified employees,” stated Kathy Collier, Grants Director.

November 12-16 marks National Apprenticeship week. Crowder College has been a part of the Department of Labor National Apprenticeship Programs since 2015. According to the DOL website, nearly 400,000 new apprentices have been hired to fill high demand jobs since January 2017.

This apprenticeship marks the third for the college as it currently has a carpentry apprenticeship with Branco Enterprises, Inc. and an electrical apprenticeship with Bill’s Electric.
