With heavy hearts we mourn the loss of former Crowder College President, Dr. Glenn Coltharp. His kind, generous, and giving spirit will always be remembered by those who had any interactions with him. His unique talent was to never know a stranger and think quickly on his feet.
Coltharp began employment in February 2012 as Vice President of Academic Affairs where he served until January 2019 when he was named the eighth president of Crowder College. He served in this role until retirement in Spring 2022. During his time as president, the college faced the difficulty of Covid 19 shutdown and a ransomware virus. Both events could have been devastating to the college and its abilities. Dr. Coltharp enlisted the help of administration as well as everyone on staff to successfully navigate and recover. His positive energy and ability to always see the bright side of a situation enabled faculty and staff to persevere and thrive. For that we will be forever grateful.
The family has scheduled a visitation Friday, November 1, 5-7pm, at the First United Methodist Church, Pittsburg, KS. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 2, 10am, at Joplin High School Performing Arts Center. Service arrangements by Brenner Mortuary.
