Neosho, Mo. – The Crowder Quill art and literary magazine is now accepting submissions for its annual contest celebrating its 40th anniversary. Crowder students as well as area high school students and adult community members compete for awards and publication in the categories of writing, photography, and art.
“Since 1980, the Quill has been a source of encouragement and recognition to budding artists and writers in the community, college, and area high schools,” said Latonia Bailey, Quill adviser.
The contest is open to entries in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, photography, digital, 2D and 3D art.
The categories of 2D traditional media (paintings, drawings, and hand-made prints) and 3D art (pottery, ceramics, sculptures) may be sent by mail or hand delivery by Feb. 2. All other entries should be sent as digital files and uploaded online at www.CrowderQuill.com by Feb. 3.

Individuals may submit up to four entries in each category, and specific guidelines for each category and more information can be obtained from the website.
Winning entrants will be notified in April. They will receive an award and will be published in the magazine. High school gold winners will also be offered scholarships subject to enrolling in specific, related courses.
The awards ceremony, hosted in May on the Neosho campus, will include 40th anniversary special activities as well as open mic poetry readings.
The Quill has been published since 1980 and is distributed free on campus and in the community. The purpose of the Crowder Quill is to showcase and encourage artistic and literary works.
