Crowder College forged a new partnership today with a check presentation from 3M in the amount of $117,051. This partnership was made possible through the 3M Manufacturing and Academic Partnership (MAP) program and 3M Cares Scholarship. MAP provided $112,051 with 3M Cares gifting $5000 for scholarships.
This partnership is designed to help develop the skills and knowledge of both high school instructor and students in automation and mechatronics combining electronics and mechanical engineering.
“Crowder College is excited to partner with 3M to provide local school districts the ability to experience hands on training as well as build career pathways in manufacturing. With this partnership, we will be able to increase awareness in this high demand field, thus improving the lives of students, meeting the workforce needs of the region, and strengthening the community as a whole,” stated Melissa Smith, Director of Concurrent Enrollment & Regional Centers, Crowder College.

This partnership will promote these careers that are very much in demand in today’s job market and provide employable skills aligned with industry needs. By providing the grant and scholarships, we hope to build this program and strengthen our relationship with Crowder in this area as we move forward,” said Gregg Poe, Plant Engineering & EHS Manager, 3M Commercials Solutions Division.

Through its partnership with the Joplin Chamber Foundation’s Advanced Training and Technology Center, Crowder College provides training in areas of high workforce demand in Southwest Missouri.
