Crowder College Baseball won the Region 16 tournament this past weekend, but that wasn’t the only thing they accomplished. There were six players nominated for all-Region 16 awards.
Michael Miller (Blytheville, AR) was named Defensive Player of the Year. His performance behind the plate boasted some outstanding numbers as he had a fielding percentage of .997; 283 out of 303 put outs; and only 1 passed ball.
Crowder also had five players named to the 1st Team All-Region 16. Coaches from the region rank the top 12 players. Crowder players were ranked as follows:
- #1 – Elvis Peralta – infielder from Lowell, MA *
- #4 – Joey Cooner – pitcher from Warsaw, MO *
- #6 – Tyler Duncan – outfielder from Sooke, British Columbia
- #7 – Jacob Adams – infielder from Conway, AR
- #10 – Luke Price – outfielder from Dover, AR
*Peralta and Cooner were unanimous votes
Region 16 Coach of the Year was Coach Travis Lallemand. This is Lallemand’s 12th year as head coach of the Roughriders and his 4th Region Championship.
After winning the Region 16 tournament the Roughrider now host the South Central District tournament, May 19-21, at home. The tournament will host a 3-team double elimination tournament with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, CO. The tournament schedule will be made available later this week.
