Application and Enrollment for New Students
Becoming a Crowder student is simple. You just need to follow these easy steps:
1. Complete an application for admission
A $25 application fee must accompany application. Go to Application
2. Placement Exam: Compass or ACT
Compass is a computerized placement exam that will help your academic advisor place you in the correct English and math classes. Call 417-455-5602 to schedule a test time, or call your nearest Crowder site listed above.
ACT test results: You must have a 19 on the English portion of the ACT, a 22 on the math portion, and an 18 in the reading portion to be placed college-level English, math courses, and classes with a reading requirement. If you do not have these scores you must take the Compass.
3. Have your high school transcript or GED scores, plus any previous college transcripts, sent to the Records Office, Crowder College 601 Laclede, Neosho MO 64850, prior to enrollment.
4. Make payment arrangements Cash, payment plan, scholarship, financial aid - apply for financial aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, Crowder School code: 002459. (All A+ program students must apply for financial aid.)
5. Review the schedule of classes
This will give you a chance to become familiar with the types of classes Crowder has to offer, and the different times they are held.

Assessment and Placement
ACT and COMPASS Testing To facilitate student success at Crowder College, the following guidelines have been established for enrollment in Crowder courses. Crowder College will accept the ACT scores for college-level placement if a student has an English score of at least 19, a math score of at least 22 and a reading score of at least 18. If a student’s ACT scores are below the levels listed above, he/she must take the COMPASS test for placement purposes.
COMPASS consists of three parts:
Math, Reading, and Writing. The
$25 application fee to Crowder
covers the cost of the first attempt of
the test. Retakes of any section
cost $5 each.
