Lee Library provides study areas, an open computer lab, quiet study rooms, a library instruction classroom, a photocopier room, a media room with video monitor setups, a conference room and a student activity area that provides office tools such as hole punch and staplers.

Where is the Bill and Margot Lee Library?
Lee Library is located on the second floor of the Arnold Farber Building. Elevator access to the second floor is available from the main lobby of the building.

What are the library hours?
The hours are posted on the door to the library and also on the web @ Library Hours.

What are the rules for using Lee Library?
Your student identification card is your library card. You should obtain it through Student Services, usually during the first week of classes of your first semester at Crowder College. Most books and magazines are available for a 3 week checkout. If a book is not returned on time, then fines will be assessed at the rate of $.05 a day per item. All materials need to be returned and all fines paid by the end of the semester. Students who have not returned library books or have outstanding library fees will be prohibited from selling back used textbooks to the bookstore or receiving a copy of their official college transcript. Some items in the library may not be checked out and, other items, particularly those on reserve, have limited checkout times. The computers in the open computer lab are intended to help students with their homework and research. Because we sometimes have students waiting to get access to computers, we do not allow students to use chat or games on the computers.

How do I find the information I need?
Books - Students may search for books by author, title, subject, or keyword searches in the SWAN/MOBIUS online catalog. Periodicals - Abstracts and citations for general magazine and journal articles can be found by searching EBSCOhost databases which are available at all Internet computers on campus. Some of the articles in EBSCOhost have full-text available. Other indexes for specialized areas are also available over the web and some of these require a password which you can obtain from the librarian. When you have a citation for a magazine article that is not full-text via the database, you can look for the actual article in the periodical archives at the north end of the library or in the microfiche cabinets in the Media Room.
Newspapers - Several newspapers are available in our collection and are retained in the library for 2 - 4 weeks depending on whether it is a daily or weekly subscription.
Pamphlets - These are available in the vertical file cabinets in the periodicals display area.. Internet – Computer workstations are available in the open computer lab for searching the web. Please ask a library staff member if you need assistance.

How do I get books and magazines that are not found in Lee Library?
Crowder College is a member of the SWAN cluster of MOBIUS. Crowder students may search the SWAN and MOBIUS catalogs on the web and make an online request to have a title sent to them at the Crowder College Lee Library or to any of the other SWAN libraries. A delivery service transports books usually within 3 days among all of the libraries in MOBIUS consortium.

Lee Library can also help students get books and magazine articles from other libraries through a service called Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Lee Library belongs to a group of libraries which lend to each other at no charge. These libraries will loan books and photocopies of magazine articles up to 20 pages. Interlibrary Loan request forms are available at the front desk and are required for each item.
Crowder College students and employees may also borrow in person from other libraries in SWAN and/or MOBIUS. A validated identification card from a MOBIUS institution such as Crowder College is necessary to check out books from their collections. Before making a special trip to another library, look at their catalog on the Internet to see if they have what you need.

Are food and beverages allowed in Lee Library?
Lee Library is committed to providing an atmosphere conducive to study and research. Food and beverages may damage library materials and equipment and certainly may distract from creating an atmosphere that encourages study.
Food is not allowed in Lee Library. There are areas outside the library that may be designated for eating and snacking. Food or beverages are never permitted in the open computer lab in Lee Library or near any public computer workstation.

Am I allowed to use my cell phone in the library?
When you visit the library, we ask that you turn off the ringer and set your cell phone to silent or vibrate. Please go outside the library to have your conversation. This policy allows us to show consideration for others and provide the environment that is conducive to study. If you wish to report inappropriate cell phone use, contact a library staff member at the circulation desk. We appreciate your cooperation in making Lee Library a better place to study.

Am I allowed to bring my children to the library?
From the Student Handbook: “It is the policy of Crowder College that children who are not on campus for some specific age-related activity not be present in the classroom or other areas of the college, in lieu of other child care arrangements (refer to Board Policy 5.10). “
Minor children may not be unattended in the library. For your child’s protection, an adult must be present with them. Minor children are not allowed to use the library computers.

What causes the beeper to go off at the entrance to Lee Library?
This is our security detection system. Please be sure your items have been checked out properly before leaving the library or they will activate the alarm system.

How do I learn to use the resources at Lee Library?
The best way is to try, and when you aren't sure about something ask questions of the library staff. Most students will have the opportunity to use the library resources during their English Composition and College orientation classes, but anyone should feel comfortable to ask questions at any time.
