This class will give you the tools to develop a personalized, flexible routine to keep all your writing projects on track and moving toward completion.
Students will learn how to make the best use of even a little bit of time each week, expand your research to include multiple projects, keep track of queries and rejections, log expenses and tax deductions, take advantage of seasonal opportunities, and complete your own personal goals as a writer. Whether you are writing novels, magazine articles, screenplays, or anything else, you’ll find this system of organization works!

WRITE AND SELL THE SHORT STUFF

Learn how to break into the magazine market with fillers, anecdotes, editorials, essays, humor, children’s writing, restaurant reviews, tips and more. Discussion will include market research, queries v. direct submissions, turning short works into longer pieces and writers’ resources.
This is an introductory class, providing an overview of the methods and opportunities open to freelance writers.

Travel writing is fun and easy! This class will include insight on the types of travel writing that sell, how to submit your work to magazines and newspapers, where to find open markets and resources for travel writers. Also discussed: how to sell photographs with your articles, step-by-step from idea to paycheck, using query letters, resale’s and more.
