Honors
Program at Crowder College
The Honors Program
is designed for the purpose of:
* Enhancing the college experience
* Allowing for exploration of depth of subject matter.
* Allowing students exploration of their strengths and weaknesses
* Working on critical thinking as a tool for problem solving
* Reinforcing the validity
of the scholarly approach
* Allowing for an arena for active participation
* Preparing students for the challenge of four year institutions
* Providing greater intellectual challenges
* Providing a mentor-based relationship
* Providing a situation which is conducive to individual expression
and self discovery
Students who
show exceptional academic promise may receive a Presidential
Honors Scholarship. Recipients must participate in the Honors
Program Curriculum. Recipients are required to enroll in 15 credit
hours per semester,
Eligibility: Applicants who have graduated from high
school within one year prior to application must have a composite ACT
score of 24. In addition, the applicant must meet at least one of the
following criteria:
* A standing within the top 10% of their high school class
* A minimum cumulative high school g.p.a of 3.5
* Valedictorian or salutatorian of high school class.
Non-traditional students of current Crowder students must have a minimum
cumulative g.p.a 3.75, and 30 completed college credit hours.
Amount: full tuition, fees, and provides a book loan
Renewal: may be renewed for up to three consecutive
semesters providing that the student maintains a 3.5 g.p.a., completes
15 credit hours per semester, and participates in the Honors
Curriculum.
