Programs of Study
Agriculture
is the largest industry in the state of Missouri and the largest
sector of the U.S. economy. Agriculture employs approximately 20%
of all U.S. workers. There are many career options in the agriculture
industry. In addition to production agriculture they include: Education,
Agronomy, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Animal
Science, Veterinary Science and Poultry Science.
The graduates of the
Crowder College within the Agriculture Division enter many fields
ranging from conservation agents to high school agriculture instructors
to presidents of banks.

Upon completion of degree graduates are able to transfer to a four-
year institution or enter the agriculture industry with an
understanding and basic knowledge he or she needs to be successful.

Upon completion of degree graduates are ready to enter the
agriculture and/or agribusiness sector of the U.S. economy. Options
of study include: Agribusiness Technology, Agronomy, Horticulture
and Livestock Production. Possible career choices include Ag Salesperson,
Farm Manager, Ag Retail Store Manager, Livestock Herdsman, Swine
Technician, Animal Health Technician, Poultry Serviceman, Soil Technician,
Chemical Applicator, Florist, Landscape Technician, Nurseryman,
Agricultural Equipment Maintenance, Ag Finance or Quality control
Technician.

Veterinary
Technology
Crowder College’s Veterinary Technology program is a 79 credit
hour curriculum to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree.
This program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association
(AVMA). Registered Veterinary Technicians in Missouri must graduate
from an AVMA accredited program, pass the Veterinary Technician
National Exam, and the Missouri State Exam.
Upon successful completion
of these board examinations, graduates are certified to work with
licensed DVM in companion animal, exotic, equine, and food animal
practices, performing medical nursing and technical procedures.
Positions are also available in teaching and research institutions,
as well as in industry.
Students must have successfully
completed a college biology or zoology class to apply for the program.
Students must also be at the level of Crowder’s Math 100 or
Business Math, English 100, and at a reading level greater than
or equal to LOC 90 to be considered for acceptance in to the program.
